Toyota car registrations in Russia have doubled
Registrations of new Toyota vehicles in Russia doubled, which allowed the brand to rise to eighth place in the top sales in the Russian market at the end of autumn. This was announced on December 3 by Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel.
According to him, 3,970 new Toyota cars were registered in Russia in November, which is 109% more than in November last year (1,896 units). At the same time, sales of Toyota cars in the country increased by a third (33.6%) in 11 months and reached 25.4 thousand units.
"The Japanese brand confidently holds the first place among those unofficially supplied to Russia. In the overall sales ranking for 11 months, Toyota ranks 10th, and in November it rose to the eighth position," the analysts noted.
The RAV4 crossover remains Toyota's most popular model in the Russian primary market, accounting for a third of the total demand (33.3%) for the brand's cars. The second most popular model is the Highlander (23%), followed by the Camry sedan (21%). In addition, according to the expert, the Land Cruiser 300 and Prado SUVs are in good demand.
Tselikov also noted that more than 80% of new Toyota cars registered in Russia were made in China, and 4% have a right-hand drive.
Earlier that day, it was reported that Toyota, which ceased business in Russia in 2022, had registered a trademark with the name of the Land Cruiser Prado SUV with Rospatent.
Also on December 3, it became known that by the end of November, 127.9 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 5% more than in November 2024. The Lada Granta model retained the title of the bestseller in the primary Russian car market, the Haval Jolion remained the best-selling foreign car, and two models of the Russian brand Tenet entered the top five.
