AvtoVAZ estimated the use of gasoline with 10% alcohol content
AvtoVAZ has experience using gasoline up to 10% alcohol content, since such fuel is a reference for certification, while its composition does not significantly affect power characteristics and reliability. The press service of AVTOVAZ reported this to Izvestia on December 3.
"Additional research and testing will be required to analyze the impact on performance and durability at an alcohol content above 10%," the car company said.
Earlier in November, the State Duma adopted in the third reading a norm according to which no excise tax will be paid on denatured ethyl alcohol in the production of Ai-92 gasoline. As explained by Alexey Sazanov, State Secretary and Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation, this amendment is the first of a chain aimed at involving denatured ethyl alcohol in the production of gasoline. Now the maximum proportion is 1% alcohol, and this proportion is rising to 10%, he noted.
Earlier, on December 2, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant announced that it had begun testing its engines for the use of biofuels (E10). If risks arise, the plant will carry out the necessary improvements or develop recommendations for car owners, UAZ noted.
The activists called on Rosstandart to check the possibility of using Ai-92 gasoline with a 10% ethyl alcohol content in cars manufactured and sold in the Russian Federation. The National Automobile Union (NAS) sent a letter to the head of the Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Standardization, and Izvestia received a copy of the document on November 26. In November, the State Duma adopted amendments in the third reading canceling the payment of excise duty on denatured ethyl alcohol in the production of Ai-92 gasoline.
