Lada-Rus foreign agent's defense appealed the court verdict
The defense of Svetlana Lada-Rus (Peunova, recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), accused of creating a non-profit organization that encroaches on the personality and rights of citizens, as well as causing serious harm to health through negligence and fraud, appealed the verdict. This was reported to Izvestia in court on December 3.
According to the investigation, in 2012 and 2016, Lada-Rus created and headed two non-profit organizations that positioned themselves as the Path to the Sun center for traditional medicine. In fact, they were destructive communities that encouraged people to abandon their civic duties.
On November 14, Peunova was found guilty under a number of articles and sentenced in absentia to eight years in a penal colony. In addition, according to law enforcement officials, since 2006, at her home in the village of Barinovka, Neftegorsky district, she has conducted obligatory rituals and ceremonies, promoting her own faith and influencing the emotional state of her followers.
The investigation also established that Peunova had fraudulently seized the property of the victims.
