A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. In addition, units of the North group of forces defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Andreevka, Khoten and Novaya Sich, Sumy region, Vilcha, Staritsa, Varvarovka and Liman, Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 170 soldiers.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The manpower and equipment of five mechanized, jaeger, airmobile, airborne, two amphibious assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two marine brigades, a defense brigade, a special forces brigade "Azov" and three National Guard brigades were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Annovka, Dimitrov, Rodinskoe, Dobropolye, Svetloye, Vodyanskoe, Toretsk, Belitskoye, Belozerskoye of the Donetsk People's Republic and Novopavlovka of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to up to 430 servicemen," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, attack drones, missiles and artillery, defeated transport and energy infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a workshop for assembling long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 145 districts.

In turn, air defense systems shot down 251 aircraft-type drones. The forces of the Black Sea Fleet destroyed two unmanned boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 100,082 UAVs, 638 anti-aircraft missile systems, 26,348 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,624 multiple rocket launchers, 31,689 field artillery and mortars, 48,199 pieces of special vehicles.
