Today, more than 950 thousand people with disabilities live in the capital, including about 60 thousand minors. All of them receive the system support they need at every stage of their lives, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his messenger channel.
Moscow provides people with disabilities with the rehabilitation services they need. Every year, the capital provides assistance to more than 200 thousand people through individual rehabilitation and habilitation programs. In addition, Muscovites with disabilities receive assistance in sports and creative adaptation centers and inclusive workshops, as well as in the framework of numerous projects of the capital's NGOs.
There are 8 rehabilitation and educational centers in Moscow for students with disabilities, where more than 2,000 children with special needs study. The classrooms are equipped with special furniture and appliances, and the training is conducted according to individual programs that take into account the needs of each student, using innovative methods.
The capital also helps people with disabilities to learn new professions, provides professional development opportunities and helps in finding employment. The city has special programs that help applicants with special needs to adapt to the labor market. In addition, the Abilimpix movement is developing on the basis of the Professional training center. In 2024, 659 people with disabilities were able to get a job due to their participation in the professional skills championships.
