The European Union (EU) may lose its leading potential in the economy due to the abandonment of Russian gas and will depend on energy resources, which are more expensive. This was announced on December 3 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a briefing.

"Thus, Europe is condemning itself to much more expensive energy sources, which will inevitably lead to consequences for the European economy and for reducing Europe's competitiveness. This will only accelerate the process that has emerged in recent years for the European economy to lose its leading potential," he said.
