Peskov pointed to the first direct dialogue on the US plan for Ukraine.
The December 2 meeting was the first direct exchange of views on the U.S. plan between Moscow and Washington. This was announced on December 3 at a briefing by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Again, as it was said yesterday, something was accepted, something was marked as unacceptable. This is a normal working process of finding a compromise," Peskov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov called the Russian leader's conversation with US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff useful and constructive.
Witkoff arrived in Moscow on December 2. This is the sixth visit of the special envoy of the American president to Russia in a year. The last time he came to Moscow was on August 6.
The meeting between Witkoff and Putin ended on the night of December 3. The negotiations lasted about five hours. At a briefing, Ushakov said that during the talks the parties discussed the territorial issue.
