Over the past day, 245 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 32 people were killed and 304 injured. 26 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on December 3 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 97 accidents, 54 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 43 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, and 92 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 19 young pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

On the second day of winter, 38 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, in which 45 young road users, including 25 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

16 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which no one was killed, but 17 road users, including one child, needed medical attention. Half of the bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

So, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, in the evening, on 437 km of the federal highway M-12 Vostok, a 46-year—old bus driver from Tajikistan, carrying 46 passengers on the route Moscow - Dushanbe, was briefly distracted from driving and crashed into two trucks ahead of him in the passing direction and a second bus from Tajikistan, also traveling from Moscow in Dushanbe with 54 passengers in the cabin. All these vehicles stopped due to an earlier accident without injuries. As a result of the accident, the driver and four passengers of the first bus ended up in the hospital with injuries of varying severity.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of passengers during transportation depends entirely on their skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. Bus drivers should not overestimate their skills and not be distracted from driving.

In addition, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced in some regions of the country due to adverse weather conditions. Thus, in the Republic of Buryatia, due to snowfall, ice and strong winds, restrictions on the movement of trucks on the section of the federal highway R-258 Baikal from 183 to 356 km were in effect all yesterday from noon to midnight. The restriction has now been lifted.

In the Irkutsk region, for the same reasons, truck traffic was restricted for more than a day along the federal highway R-258 Baikal in the direction of the Republic of Buryatia on the stretch from 46 to 100 km. In the Sakhalin Region, traffic along the A-393 Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk-Okha section from 722 to 855 km was temporarily stopped for more than a day and a half until tonight due to snow, ice and strong gusty winds.

When planning long-distance trips, motorists should familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. In case of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to worsening weather, the relevant information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service units on social networks.

The State Traffic Inspectorate draws the attention of drivers to the fact that in winter they should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments on roads slippery with snow or ice, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and do not exceed the set speed.

"Do not forget that in conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, be sure to use fog lights, if available, and during precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on. If the weather worsens, refrain from using personal vehicles, and in urban conditions, transfer to public transport," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Earlier, on November 1, it was reported that following the results of the first nine months of 2025, a decrease in accident rates was recorded in Russia. The number of road accidents decreased by 2.4% (94.9 thousand cases), the number of dead — by 3.4% (10.1 thousand people), injured — by 3% (117.7 thousand people).
