Half of the cars sold in 2025 in Russia turned out to be from last year

50% of new cars sold on the Russian car market in 2025 were produced in 2024 and earlier. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this on December 3 in his Telegram channel.

Of the 1.19 million new passenger cars sold in 11 months of 2025, 595 thousand units were produced in 2023-2024. This represents exactly 50% of the total sales.

However, as the analyst noted, by November, the share of new cars from last year had decreased to 20%, but dealers still have them.

So, in November, 22.8 thousand cars of the year 2024 and slightly less than 3 thousand of the year 2023 were sold. The volume of sales of fresh cars (produced in 2025) exceeded 100 thousand units.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that by the end of November, 127.9 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 5% more than in November 2024. The Lada Granta model retained the title of the bestseller in the primary Russian car market, the Haval Jolion remained the best-selling foreign car, and two models of the Russian brand Tenet entered the top five.
