The talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are a step towards sustainable peace. This was announced on December 3 by the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Leonid Slutsky.

"The meeting (of Putin and Witkoff. — Ed.) gave the opportunity to discuss in detail the ways of the Ukrainian settlement," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

Slutsky stressed that the five-hour conversation in the Kremlin once again confirms that the main dialogue is being conducted between Moscow and Washington, and European capitals, despite their attempts to put forward alternative plans, are unable to disrupt this process.

He added that the contours of the end of the Ukrainian conflict will not be determined by the Brussels "war party", which still refuses to recognize the failure of the anti-Russian bet on the Bandera regime. The parliamentarian also noted that Russia's arguments are seriously supported by the advancement of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the battlefield.

Witkoff arrived in Moscow on December 2. This is the sixth visit of the special envoy of the American president to Russia in a year. The last time he came to Moscow was on August 6. On each visit, Putin held meetings with Witkoff.

During the meeting, the special envoy of the US president called the Russian capital an amazing city, and his walk around Moscow was beautiful. The Russian leader, in turn, noted that he was glad to see Witkoff in the capital, and stressed that the Moscow authorities were rightfully proud of what they had done for the development of the capital of the Russian Federation.
