The United States believes that over the past three years, Russia and Ukraine have reached the closest possible peace treaty, but even more efforts are needed to conclude it. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this in an interview with Fox News channel on December 2.

"I think we've made some progress. We've gotten closer, but we're not there yet. We're not close enough yet, but that may change. I hope that this will change," he said.

According to the Secretary of State, the administration has been working on this agreement for 10 months, trying to work out conditions that will suit both sides.

On the same day, Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced Russia's agreement to consider some points of the American plan for Ukraine, but he added that some aspects raise objections from the Russian side.
