Soldiers of the assault unit of the Center group of forces shared details of the fighting in Krasnoarmeysk. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on December 3.

During the capture of Krasnoarmeysk, our troops used an unconventional approach: they invisibly infiltrated the city in small detachments, occupied key positions in designated areas, and only then launched a full-scale offensive. This strategy caught the enemy off guard. For a long time he could not understand where and why his units and equipment were disappearing in the middle of the city, and when he realized what was happening, it was already too late — the initiative had completely passed into the hands of our soldiers.

"We set up mines, first we acted from ambush, destroyed the enemy. The enemy walked and behaved at ease, as if at home. When their groups began to disappear, equipment exploded, equipment burned down, their pickups were shot, they started to panic," Lieutenant Maxim Gorbunov, deputy commander of the company for political work, Guards, told Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan.

The weather conditions helped the Russian troops to enter Krasnoarmeysk. Fog and rain contributed to the stealthy entry into the city.

"We entered through Zverevo. It's quiet at night, according to the weather, according to the rain, when there were fogs. The weather conditions are favorable for our work, that is, it is quiet between enemy positions. The task was to enter Krasnoarmeysk itself, accumulate and then launch assault operations," Senior Lieutenant Gennady Doroshev, commander of the motorized rifle company of the 30th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle brigade of the Center group of forces, shared the details.

The most important stage was the hoisting of the flag of the Russian Federation on a stele with the inscription "Pokrovsk" at the entrance to Krasnoarmeysk from the West. Alexander Shumko, the shooter of the assault unit, said that he and his partner went to set up the banner in fog conditions. This was his first experience, and he was particularly interested because he realized that the city was already under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

"I felt proud of my guys. The guys are beautiful. It was really difficult to prepare for this, that is, again, there were fears that the approach might be booby-trapped there, and the enemy's flag was hanging there...> The boys ran quickly, hung up the flag, and returned. <...> Pride was very serious, and even the mood lifted," Doroshev concluded.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on December 1 that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to the Joint Forces command post, listened to reports on the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Volchansk in the Kharkiv region.
