A New Zealand citizen is accused of stealing a Faberge pendant for more than $19,000, it is assumed that the man swallowed it. This was reported on December 2 by The Guardian newspaper with reference to the local police.
"The Oakland City Patrol arrived a few minutes later, arresting a man inside the store," police commander Gray Anderson said.
After his arrest, a 32-year-old New Zealander was charged with stealing a Faberge pendant from a limited collection.
According to information from Faberge's website, the pendant is made of 18k yellow gold and encrusted with 60 diamonds and 15 sapphires, inside the pendant is an octopus figurine.
The police cannot produce evidence because the stolen jewelry has not yet been found.

This surpassed the previous record of $18.5 million set at Christie's in 2007 when selling another Faberge egg made for the Rothschild family.
