The Prosecutor's Office is monitoring the establishment of circumstances of animal cruelty in Pushkino. This was reported in the Moscow region prosecutor's office on Tuesday, December 2.

The ministry noted that on November 29, 2025, at about 16:00, a conflict arose between two local residents near the entrance to a store in the village of Sofrino-1 due to a dog bite. After some time, the conflicting parties met again on the road near the cottage village "Bortnevo-5".

"During the incident, one of the participants, using a hunting rifle, hit the dog owner in the stomach with the butt and shot at the animals. As a result, one dog died on the spot, the other died in a veterinary clinic," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message as saying.

A criminal case has been opened into the crime under Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruelty to animals").

The Pushkin City Prosecutor's Office took control of establishing all the circumstances of the incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Earlier that day, the owner of the dead dogs told Izvestia that an unknown man had beaten him and shot two domestic dogs after he refused to pay "compensation" for the dog sniffing his leg.

The day before, a man in Moscow was convicted of cruelty to an animal, which led to his death. It was noted that the man, being in the forest area of Teply Stan, deliberately stabbed a Great Dane dog belonging to a resident of the capital with a knife in the back area. As a result, the animal suffered injuries that led to its death. The man pleaded not guilty to the crime.
