More than 1.6 million gas stoves in Moscow apartments have been checked since the beginning of the year.

Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping, Pyotr Biryukov, said on Tuesday, December 2, that since the beginning of 2025, urban experts have checked more than 1.6 million gas stoves — about 90% of their total number in Moscow apartments.

He noted that when violations are detected, specialists immediately eliminate threats and make recommendations for further operation and repair, the Moscow City News agency notes.

Biryukov stressed that gas safety is under constant control. Mosgaz JSC annually conducts scheduled maintenance of the entire gasified housing stock. He explained that the service life of the stove is 10-12 years, after which the equipment wears out and needs to be replaced, and modern models must be equipped with a gas control system, writes Moscow 24.

The deputy mayor recalled that the responsibility for the maintenance and replacement of gas equipment lies with the owners and tenants of housing. Information about the dates of inspections is posted on the entrance and courtyard stands.
