Nutritionist Roman Pristansky spoke out against the new "planetary diet", pointing out the climatic and cultural characteristics of different regions.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, December 2, he noted that it was impossible to exclude red meat from the diet of residents of Yakutia and other northern regions, as this could lead to the degeneration of entire nations.

The expert stressed that nutritional needs strongly depend on the climate and there can be no universal solutions. He also expressed doubt that animal husbandry is the main environmental pest, noting that the widespread switch to plant—based food and an increase in its consumption can cause no less damage - the issue, according to him, is the rational use of resources.

Instead of extreme measures, the nutritionist suggested relying on a balanced and varied diet adapted to the real conditions of people's lives.

On December 1, it was reported that scientists proposed to radically restructure agriculture and global supply chains, making plant-based products, fish and chicken the basis of nutrition. Experts also called for reducing global consumption of red meat, salt and sugar as much as possible. According to their calculations, it is necessary to spend $200-500 billion a year to transform nutrition on a global scale, the website writes kp.ru .

On November 26, endocrinologist Elena Fedorova told RIAMO that weight loss is possible even without extreme diets. To lose weight safely, you should consult with a doctor or nutritionist in advance, change your diet gradually, avoid extreme diets, move more and adhere to the principles of a balanced diet, writes RT.

On November 11, scientists from Spain found out that switching to a vegan diet almost halves carbon dioxide emissions and significantly reduces the burden on natural resources. It is noted that, in particular, the vegan diet reduced key indicators of the impact on the ecosystem by more than 50% and reduced the likelihood of non-communicable diseases by more than 55%.

On October 30, Natalia Pavlyuk, a nutritionist and therapist, told Moscow 24 that in two months you can lose from four to eight kilograms if you create a calorie deficit through dietary restrictions. She noted that 1300-1500 calories per day are usually enough for women to lose weight, and 1800-2000 calories for men, notes 360.ru .

In August, nutritionist Natalia Mizinova said that the popular high-butter diet, which means "low in carbohydrates, high in fat," is undoubtedly harmful. The point of the diet is to replace carbohydrates with fats, but such a regime should be prescribed only by a doctor. The doctor warned that self-adherence to such a diet can lead to serious consequences, and after stopping the diet, there is often a sharp setback and rapid weight gain.
