GAZ has strengthened the transmission of Gazelle and Sobol cars
Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) has completed the conversion of the entire line of gasoline and bi-fuel (gas-gasoline) modifications of Gazelle Business, Sobol Business and Gazelle Next cars to a reinforced 5-speed gearbox. This is stated in the message of the distributor company "Modern Transport Technologies", which was received by Izvestia on December 2.
The reinforced 5-speed gearbox (KP 330) was originally intended for Gazelle Next vehicles with diesel engines. The new transmission is designed for an input torque of up to 330 Nm, it replaced the previous 5-speed gearbox 250 (up to 250 Nm). Now the latter is produced only for spare parts supplies.

The body of the new unit consists not of two, but of three parts, with a spacer with an intermediate support of the secondary and intermediate shafts. Instead of a movable spline connection with a driveshaft using a sliding fork, it uses a flange connection. The transmission has also been upgraded, receiving improved synchronizers (for clearer activation of the first and second gears) and a more durable fifth gear, which should increase the durability of the gearbox.
In March 2025, all Gazelles Next with all-metal bodies (vans, combi, minibuses) were switched to reinforced gearboxes. Since September, this transmission has been used to aggregate Gazelle Business and Sobol Business with a 4×2 wheel formula, since November — Gazelle Next of the onboard group, and since December — on all-wheel drive versions of Gazelle Business and Sobol Business.
Earlier, on October 27, it was reported that Gazon Next medium-duty trucks began to be equipped with an exchange stability control (ESC) system. Earlier this year, it was introduced on Gazelle NN, Gazelle Next and Sobol NN light commercial vehicles. Prior to this, the front airbags were included in the basic configuration of most modifications of these models.
