The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported a decrease in the Russian car market by 21%

By the end of January-November 2025, 1.34 million new cars (under the age of 3) were sold in the Russian Federation, which is 21% less than in the same period last year, when the market was almost 1.69 million units. This was announced on December 2 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

The market volume in the segment of passenger cars amounted to 1.18 million units (-17% compared to the same period last year), in the segment of light commercial vehicles — 95.6 thousand units (-24%), trucks — 51.2 thousand units (-55%), buses — 11.7 thousand units (-36%).

The market for new cars of domestic production exceeded 738 thousand units, which is only 2% less than in January-November last year. The market for new electric vehicles amounted to 12.1 thousand units (-32%), the share of those manufactured in the Russian Federation reached 33%. The share of Russian equipment in January-November 2025 increased by 11 percentage points compared to the same period last year and amounted to 55%.

In total, 142.8 thousand new cars were sold in November, which is more than in any month of the current year, with the exception of a record high in October, the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted. In the last month of autumn, sales of cars produced in the Russian Federation amounted to 80.9 thousand units (+7% compared to November 2024). 61.8 thousand imported cars were also sold during the month (-10.8%). In November, the share of domestic equipment in the market reached 57%.

The day before, it was reported that in November, 14 car companies in Russia changed prices for new cars. In the first half of the month, 12 stamps were copied from the price lists, and two stamps in the second half.

On November 26, it became known that Russians spent 568 billion rubles on the purchase of new passenger cars in October, which is 38.6% more than in September of the same year. At the same time, the volume of cars sold was the largest since November 2024.
