Tricolor is building Russia's first new generation teleporter
Tricolor, Russia's largest satellite operator, is building its own Earth-based satellite communications station. The project will be unique for Russia — the construction is carried out according to the greenfield principle in a place where there is no ready-made infrastructure. Tricolor made it the first among all Russian commercial satellite TV operators.
One of the key tasks of building a new station for the company is full control over the process of generating and transmitting a television signal, which will ensure its maximum reliability and protection from external interference. Launching our own teleporter is the most important step in strengthening the technological sovereignty of Russian satellite broadcasting. The total investment in the construction of the station amounted to more than 400 million rubles.
This signal lifting station will provide broadcasting of all satellite channels available on the 56th degree, and there are about 300 of them.
During the construction of the teleport, the latest technological achievements in the field of satellite broadcasting were used. And the uniqueness of the project for Russia lies in the construction of the facility from scratch "in an open field": all the necessary engineering infrastructure is being created simultaneously with the station. The chosen location provides several advantages at once. This includes high noise immunity, the absence of industrial interference, and a significant increase in the energy reserve of the satellite signal in comparison with the current ZSSS used.
"The construction of the facility has been underway for more than a year and is scheduled to be completed very soon — in December 2025. For us, launching our own teleporter is a strategic decision that strengthens our market position, allows us to save significant funds on the uplink service and ensures technological sovereignty regardless of the geopolitical situation. The uniqueness of the project and the solutions used in it give us full control over the broadcasting chain, which ultimately improves the quality of services provided to millions of our customers," said Denis Filipishen, Director of Broadcasting and Information Technology at Tricolor.
