Experts urged drivers to choose an insurer more carefully after updating the CTP

After expanding the tariff range, the same insurance history may cost different companies differently: the price gap for a driver with a good reputation or, conversely, with a high accident rate can reach several percent. This was reported to Izvestia on December 3 by the Compare company.

"The basic CTP tariff for individuals will range from 1,399 to 8,665 rubles against current values of 1,646 to 7535 rubles," said Vladislav Golovkin, Director of Insurance Business Development at Compare.

The renewal of the tariff corridor has become the next stage in the modernization of the CTP system against the background of an increase in the cost of repairs and parts, as well as an increase in accidents. The expansion of the range allows insurers to assess risks more flexibly: in regions with a high frequency of accidents, base rates may increase, and in less emergency regions there will be more opportunities to reduce prices, especially for careful drivers. The total cost of CTP still depends on the territorial statistics, driving history, bonus-malus coefficient and the base rate chosen by the insurer. Careful motorists will be able to rely on a reduced rate more often, while drivers with frequent accidents will face the use of the upper limit of the corridor.

The company noted that the new tariff configuration makes the system more differentiated and distributes risks more accurately, reducing the situation when careful drivers actually compensate for losses for riskier ones. However, the expansion of the corridor will increase the price spread between companies: the difference in the cost of a policy with the same initial data can be significant, since the tariff policy and risk assessment of insurers vary.

On November 28, it became known that from December 9, 2025, the CTP tariff corridor will be expanded by 15% in both directions for all types of transport. The exception is motorcycles — for them, the boundaries are shifted by 40%. The Central Bank's instruction will also change the values of the territorial coefficient (CT). It decreases for 20 territories and increases for 28.
