- Broadway Moscow Theater Company summed up the preliminary results of the year
For a year now, the musical "The Last Fairy Tale" from the Broadway Moscow company has been running on the largest musical stage in Russia, the MDM Theater. It became the largest and most spectacular production in the entire 25-year career of producer Dmitry Bogachev: in just a couple of weeks, the box office receipts of the story about a Moscow couple trapped in the fabulous world of the Thousand and One Nights will exceed two billion rubles. The Last Fairy Tale started on December 7, 2024, immediately setting its first record.
In addition, the production is the most expensive performance in MDM's history: the budget of the musical almost doubled the investment in the acclaimed hit "Don't be Afraid of Anything, I'm with you."
In the new Maska theater of the MDM theater complex, four musical productions from the Broadway Moscow company are being performed at once. Among them, "Elementary, Hudson! The Case of Dog B", a fascinating witty musical comedy about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, and the parody musical "Mamma By! or the Musical went wrong!", which contains more than two dozen world pop hits.
In the fall, two romantic comedies were added to them – "First Date" and "Valentine's Day." The musicals "First Date" and "Valentine's Day" make up an original theatrical miniseries about the different stages in the characters' relationship: their first date and what happened next. Chinese audiences were the first to see the new version of the Russian production last summer in theaters in Beijing and Harbin.
The top five performances of Broadway Moscow were watched by almost a million viewers. Through the efforts of hundreds of artists, musicians, directors, creative and technical specialists of the two theaters, box office receipts amounted to about 3 billion rubles and brought some profit, most of which is directed to new projects, technical re-equipment of existing and the creation of new theater spaces.
In the spring of 2025, Dmitry Bogachev co–produced the international tour of the musical SIX in Barcelona, an original British production that tells the story of King Henry VIII's six wives in a witty satirical manner in the language of modern pop music and has been breaking popularity records for several years. The recording of the premiere line-up of SIX has been downloaded more than 1 billion times in the six years since the London premiere. Currently, Bogachev and his colleagues have begun work on a Spanish production of the musical, which will begin in September 2026 and last about 30 weeks in Madrid, followed by another 30 weeks on a tour of Spain.
In addition to the performances already underway, 2026 will bring musical lovers two bright premieres, as well as another theater stage.
