UAZ has started testing engines for the use of biofuels
Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has started testing its engines for the use of biofuels (E10). This was reported to Izvestia on December 2 by the UAZ press service.
"Only tests can show the need to refine and adapt engines to E10 fuel, and UAZ has already started such work. If risks arise, the plant will carry out the necessary improvements or make recommendations to car owners," the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant said.
They recalled that as an alternative to gasoline, UAZ also offers a local diesel engine, which is already being installed on UAZ Profi cargo models, and in 2026 it will be equipped with UAZ Patriot.
Gasoline marked E10 is an analog of conventional fuel, in which the proportion of biological components is increased to 10%. This is a more environmentally friendly option compared to traditional gasoline, since renewable energy sources are used in its production — for example, sugar cane, corn, wheat or sugar beet.
The activists called on Rosstandart to check the possibility of using Ai-92 gasoline with a 10% ethyl alcohol content in cars manufactured and sold in the Russian Federation. The National Automobile Union (NAS) sent a letter to the head of the Federal Service for Technical Regulation and Standardization, and a copy of the document appeared in Izvestia on November 26. In November, the State Duma adopted amendments in the third reading canceling the payment of excise duty on denatured ethyl alcohol in the production of Ai-92 gasoline.
