Taiwan has warned of a possible protracted conflict between China and Japan.
Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Jia-lung said that the diplomatic conflict between China and Japan could last about a year. The Bloomberg news agency writes about this on December 2.
"The conflict between China and Japan may drag on for a year, Taiwan's foreign minister has warned," the agency reports.
It is clarified that the tension began after statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about possible military involvement in the event of China's operation against Taiwan, which Beijing called "crossing a red line." According to the newspaper, Taiwan calls for restraint and continues to encourage citizens to travel to Japan and purchase Japanese goods, unlike China.
The minister also confirmed close contacts with the United States and expressed confidence in the support of security in the region from the administration of the American leader Donald Trump.
On November 18, the Sohu news agency reported that Takaichi's statements about his readiness to deploy self-defense forces in the event of China's attempt to establish control over Taiwan caused a crisis in international relations. China's response was immediate: a Chinese Navy electronic reconnaissance ship was detected about 70 km from an important Japanese defense point, Kagoshima.
