33 people died from mosquito bites in Cuba
In Cuba, mosquito-borne diseases have claimed the lives of 33 people. This was reported on December 1 by the newspaper CP24.
"Deputy Minister of Health Carilda Pena announced that 12 people have died from dengue and 21 from chikungunya, two viruses that are widespread throughout the Caribbean island nation," the material says.
It is specified that 5,717 new cases of chikungunya have been recorded over the past week. In addition, at least 21 of the dead were under the age of 18.
On October 7, Rospotrebnadzor reported that there are no risks of the spread of chikungunya fever in Russia, since there are no stable populations of mosquito vectors within the country. At that time, it was noted that imported cases do not lead to local circulation of the infection.
