Andrei Ivanaev, commander of the Vostok group of Forces, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the start of an operation to liberate the Gulyai-Pole settlement in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on December 1 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Ivanaev reported on the withdrawal of the group to the Gaichur River and the beginning of an operation to liberate the city of Gulyai-Pole, Zaporizhia region, by units of the 5th Combined Arms Army," he said.
In addition, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation added that at the moment, units of the eastern group of forces are fighting street battles in the northeast of the city.
Peskov said on the same day that Putin, during a visit to one of the command posts of the United Group of Forces, received reports on the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Volchansk in the Kharkiv region.
