In winter, the sun is less active, so the risk of acid pigmentation is reduced. During this period, more intensive procedures can be performed — chemical peels, courses of acid tonics and serums. Anastasia Shibayeva, a dermatovenerologist, and experts from the Golden Apple told Izvestia about this on December 2.

"PHA acids with large molecules that do not cause dehydration are suitable for sensitive skin. BHA (salicylic acid) reduces inflammation and regulates the sebaceous glands. Almond and lactic acids from the AHA group improve the texture and radiance of the skin, while lactic acid additionally moisturizes. Glycolic acid should be used with caution in winter because of its high penetrating power and the risk of increased sensitivity," explained Shibaeva.

Acids in home care are used no more than two to three times a week for normal skin and once or twice every 10 days for sensitive skin. It is important to use them under the supervision of a dermatologist and with gentle cleansers and moisturizers.

"After the acids, creams with ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide must be applied to restore the barrier and retain moisture. The products are applied in the evening, avoiding going out into the cold without protection. For the cold season, barrier creams with oils and an occlusive effect are recommended," the cosmetologist notes.

The acids are combined with vitamin C, retinol (but on different days), peptides, and probiotics. This combination helps to restore the skin.

According to experts, frequent mistakes in the use of products are associated with their regular use, their high concentration in cosmetics and lack of hydration. This leads to dehydration, flaking, and irritation.

On November 18, Olga Kokhas, a trichologist and founder of the Eurasian Trichological Association, listed the rules of hair care in winter. She recommended limiting the use of hairspray, explaining that frost already contributes to moisture loss, which causes hair to become dry and brittle, and their structure is disrupted.
