The incidence of HIV infection has decreased in the Moscow Region. Over the past three years — by 10.6%. These are the data from the regional Ministry of Health, which were released on World AIDS Day, which is celebrated on December 1.

According to Rafael Yapparov, chief physician of the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS, quoted by the online publication Podmoskovye Segodnya, modern antiretroviral therapy allows patients to maintain a habitual lifestyle and plan the birth of healthy children.

Citizens can find out their HIV status free of charge and anonymously at the polyclinic at their place of residence or at the Center for the Treatment and Control of AIDS. This can also be done during field trips.

Earlier, on December 1, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced that the number of newly registered cases of HIV infection in Russia had decreased by 11% compared to the same period last year. According to him, the annual trend of reducing the number of new cases continues: in 2024, it amounted to just under 48.5 thousand, excluding new regions, which is 11% less than the same indicator a year earlier.
