The government talked about the creation of its own AI models in Russia

"While European countries mostly use American and Chinese language models, Russia has two of its own at once: YandexGPT and GigaChat, which are already showing good results," the deputy chairman's office explained.

For example, the GigaChat 2 MAX model from Sberbank was recognized as the strongest neural network for the Russian language in 2024 according to the MERA benchmark.

"Our main priority is the development of domestic AI models and the introduction of Russian AI solutions to ensure the technological independence of the country. For example, Russian AI solutions have already been implemented in the monitoring and management system of national projects.: AI helps to predict and prevent the risks of non—fulfillment of measures," Grigorenko's office noted.

AI is currently being implemented into the electronic document management system of the Government Office to work with documents even more efficiently. AI solutions are also being actively implemented in federal and regional authorities: AI helps manage traffic flows, predict forest fires, monitor the state of the urban environment, roads, housing and communal infrastructure.

To combine efforts on technology development, Russia and China have created a Working Group on AI.
