- FSB: the terrorist attack against an officer in Crimea was led by GUR officer Rustem Fakhriev
The organizer of the foiled terrorist attack against an officer of the Ministry of Defense in Crimea was an employee of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine, Rustem Fakhriev. This was announced on December 1 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.
"It has been established that the organizer of the terrorist attack is GUR employee Fakhriev Rustem Saithalilovich," the agency said in a statement.
According to the FSB, Ukrainian intelligence planned to blow up the car of an officer of the Ministry of Defense. The agent resisted when laying the explosive device and was eliminated, communications equipment and components of a Western-made explosive device were seized from him. An accomplice of the terrorist was also detained, and a criminal case was opened against him for facilitating terrorist activities.
Earlier, on November 20, the FSB prevented a terrorist attack against a high-ranking officer of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Ukrainian special services used a new, multi-stage scheme to poison a serviceman in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). As a gift, beer bottles were mixed with a mixture of highly toxic toxic substances — colchicine and tretbutylbicyclophosphate (an analogue of the nerve agent VX, banned by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993) of British production.
