In the Japanese city of Muroran on the island of Hokkaido, an explosion occurred at a steel mill of Nippon Steel. This was announced on December 1 by the NHK television and radio company.

"There are no reports of injuries, and, apparently, the fire has not spread beyond the plant," the publication says.

It is noted that before that, a fire started in the production facility in a room through which hot air is supplied to a blast furnace to extract cast iron.

The causes and circumstances of the incident are currently being clarified.

Earlier, on November 21, at least 13 people were killed in an explosion at a chemical plant in the Pakistani city of Faisalabad, located in the eastern province of Punjab. Four children and two women were among the dead. The blast wave damaged at least ten nearby residential buildings.
