Vucic rejected accusations of worsening relations with Russia amid sanctions
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has rejected accusations of deteriorating relations with Russia amid European sanctions. As the Serbian leader stated in an interview with TV Informer on November 30, relations between the two countries also remained difficult throughout the 20th century.
"They say that we have never had such a difficult situation in relations with Russia since 1948 <...> I am even ashamed to tell the ignorant, I ask them: from the October Revolution of 1917, when did we have good relations? During [Vladimir] Lenin before 1924? During the time of [Joseph] Stalin before 1954? During [Nikita's] Khrushchev, and [Georgy] Malenkov two years before that," Vucic said.
