The Interior Ministry told about the scheme of scammers with Apple blocking

In Russia, hackers are luring out citizens' money by blocking Apple gadgets under the pretext of installing gaming applications. This was announced on November 30 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The attackers, disguising themselves as sellers of digital content, offer users to temporarily log in to a third—party Apple ID account under the pretext of installing gaming applications," the department's Telegram channel says.

After the user enters the Apple ID data on their device, the attackers activate the "Find iPhone" function and switch the smartphone to "Lost" mode, completely blocking it.

The owner of the device is then asked to transfer money for unlocking, often accompanied by threats to delete data or distribute personal information.

Instead, the attackers began to use new tricks using AI and social engineering.

Earlier that day, the Interior Ministry warned of new fraud schemes on Chinese marketplaces. According to the Interior Ministry, it is important for buyers to carefully check the delivery data: the track number should be tracked not only on the marketplace itself, but also through independent services.
