On November 30, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reacted to statements by opponents about the deterioration of relations with Russia due to Western sanctions.

According to the head of state, relations between Belgrade and Moscow were tense throughout the first half of the twentieth century.

"They say that since 1948 (the conflict between Joseph Stalin and Josip Broz Tito. — Ed.) did not have such a difficult situation in relations with Russia. I'm even ashamed to tell the ignorant, I ask them: from the October Revolution [of 1917], when did we have good relations? <...> Under [Nikita] Under Khrushchev, we had a brief period of detente before 1964, but what was particularly good?" Vucic said on TV Informer.

The Serbian president added that he always treats "Russian friends" with respect and respects their interests.

Earlier, on September 11, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, during a meeting with Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed readiness to continue good cooperation with Russia and stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue at the highest level.
