The attack of three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov after the race at the stage of the Cup of Russia in cross-country skiing on rival Alexander Bakurov is unacceptable. This was announced on November 30 by the press service of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR).

"The situation that resulted in the injury of athlete Alexander Bakurov is unacceptable... The Federation categorically opposes any manifestations of aggression and inappropriate behavior in sports, regardless of their causes and circumstances," the organization wrote on its Telegram channel.

They stressed that the safety of the participants is an absolute priority of the Federation, and in connection with the incident, a meeting of the FLGR Presidium will be held on December 2, at which they will study all the details of what happened and make decisions within the competence of the organization.

Bolshunov took last place in his semifinal run on November 29 after falling at the final turn in his fight with Bakurov. After the finish, he approached his opponent and elbowed him in the back, for which he was disqualified. Bakurov will miss the next stage of the Russian Cup due to a soft tissue injury.
