FSB detained a Ukrainian agent for an attempted terrorist attack on a gas pipeline

A Russian citizen recruited by the special services of Ukraine tried to commit a terrorist attack on a gas pipeline in the Moscow region. This was announced on November 29 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"A Russian citizen was detained red—handed in the Serpukhov district of the Moscow Region at night while trying to install an improvised explosive device <...>," the department said.

It is noted that the man came under the influence of the Ukrainian special services in 2024, after being recruited, he was sent to the territory of Russia. After the terrorist attack, the attacker had to travel abroad and return to Ukraine through third countries.

During the search, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were seized from the detainee. They were disguised as mounting glue.

Earlier, on November 21, a terrorist attack on railway tracks was prevented in Krasnodar, which was prepared by a Ukrainian on behalf of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). According to investigators, a resident of Krasnodar Krai, who has Ukrainian citizenship, was recruited on a banned social network. He received a task from his interlocutor to undermine the railway. A criminal case was opened against the suspect on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Terrorist act"), paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal acquisition of explosives or explosive devices").
