Orban announced several deals after meeting with Putin in Moscow.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on November 29 that after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin the day before, an opportunity was opening for two or three major deals.
"And I can say that we have opened the door for two or three serious major deals. <… > In some matters, the door is open, and I hope that Hungarian companies will conclude serious deals in the near future," he said at a speech in Nyiregyhaza, broadcast on the Prime Minister's YouTube channel.
At the same time, Orban added that further negotiations, including on the part of the energy company MOL, are the subject of business decisions and do not fall within the competence of the government. He expressed hope that Hungarian companies will be able to conclude "serious deals" against the background of the opportunities that have opened up.
The day before, Orban arrived in the Kremlin for talks. At the same time, he called the purpose of the trip to discuss with the Russian side the issue of Hungary's energy supply ahead of the upcoming winter.
During the meeting, the Russian leader said that relations between Russia and Hungary are based on pragmatism and "the best of what has happened" in their history. Putin noted his long-standing acquaintance with Orban and added that, despite all the difficulties, the countries' relations continue to develop.
