- The analyst called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the CPC a blow to Kazakhstan
The attack of Ukrainian unmanned boats on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in Novorossiysk is a blow to the interests of Kazakhstan, as well as American and European companies. This was announced on November 29 by Igor Yushkov, an expert from the Financial University and the National Energy Security Fund.
"And it turns out that this is a blow to Kazakhstan, it is a blow to American and European companies. Let's see what their response will be first of all. That is, Ukraine is directly hitting the interests of American companies, the interests of European companies, and Kazakhstan," he said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
Yushkov explained that due to damage to the submersible device, one of the key elements of the CPC infrastructure, difficulties will arise with the shipment of oil. At the same time, according to the expert, the bulk of the oil exported through CPC belongs to Kazakhstan, as well as European and American companies.
Earlier in the day, one of the CPC berths was damaged as a result of a Ukrainian attack. Also, in response to the incident with the berth, loading and other operations at the terminal were stopped, and tankers were diverted outside the CPC water area.
At the same time, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan urgently activated a plan to redirect oil to alternative routes after the attack. These measures were taken to minimize negative impacts and maintain production rates at large deposits.
