Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated employees and veterans of Mosgaz on the 160th anniversary of the capital's gas industry.

According to the mayor, "the appearance of the first gas lamps and gas pipelines in the middle of the 19th century marked a new stage in the development of our city." "The further expansion of the gas transmission network has opened up huge opportunities for energy, industry and many other areas of the urban economy," the mayor wrote on his channel in the IACH.

As Sobyanin noted, eco—friendly gas replaced firewood, coal and fuel oil, "freeing Moscow courtyards from slag, and thousands of people from hard and unproductive labor."

Currently, Mosgaz is a reliable pillar of "the capital's energy complex, recognized as one of the most environmentally friendly in the world," the mayor emphasized. The company's team is "developing a network of gas pipelines, increasing its own production and construction capacities, strengthening technological potential and introducing modern digital solutions."

6 thousand specialists work at Mosgaz, the company's team is an organic fusion of "experience and youth, skill and enthusiasm, traditions and advanced technologies," said Sobyanin. The company can rightfully be proud of the established engineering teams, whose developments "help make the capital's gas industry even more efficient," the mayor added.

In August, the Moscow City Management complex reported that since the beginning of 2025, more than 70 km of gas pipelines have been built and reconstructed in the capital. According to Petr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Communal Services and Landscaping, Moscow is a leader among regions in updating utility networks, which ensures reliable and safe gas supply and reduces the wear of communications. According to him, Mosgaz uses a combined method of laying — open and trenchless, which is especially important in conditions of dense construction.
