Russian fighter Goncharov defeated Hardy after refusing to continue the fight
Russian fighter from Novocherkassk, master of sports in hand-to-hand combat and mixed martial arts (MMA) Evgeny Goncharov defeated an American athlete, a fighter of the main UFC promotion Greg Hardy after the latter refused to continue the fight. The fight took place on November 28 in Vologda at the Vologda Sports Palace arena as part of the Vologda Region Governor's Cup as part of the REN TV Fight Club.
It is noted that the opponents acted cautiously in the first two rounds. Goncharov, distinguished by his "rushing into battle" style, did not adhere to his tactics.
"The big guys are definitely about the same height. Therefore, there are no maxims against the enemy," Nikolai Valuev, a member of the Russian State Duma, commented on one of the commentators.
In the third round, a more active attack from Greg began. Hardy rushed into battle, briefly pinning the Russian to the ropes. But Goncharov hit the American several times on the head at the end of the third round.
Before the fourth round, Hardy became ill, and despite his intention to return to the fight, the doctors concluded that he could not continue the fight.
The American fighter was forced to refuse to continue the fight, and Goncharov won.
