Prosecutor General's Office asks to recognize Pussy Riot punk band as extremist
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has filed an administrative lawsuit to recognize the Pussy Riot group as an extremist association and ban its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation. This was reported by TASS on November 28, citing data from the Ministry of Justice.
"The administrative case on the administrative claim of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation on the recognition of the Pussy Riot Punk Band as an extremist organization has been scheduled for trial on December 15, 2025," the department's notice says.
The lawsuit will be considered in the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow.
On September 15, the Basmanny District Court sentenced five members of the Pussy Riot group in absentia to 8 to 13 years in prison for spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces). It was clarified that Alyokhina was sentenced to 13 years in a general regime colony, Pletner — 11 years in a general regime colony, Borisova, Burkot, Petrova — 8 years each in a general regime colony.
