Europe continues to extract gas from underground storage facilities at a record pace, which poses risks to energy supply in winter. This was reported in Gazprom.

"The record selections, which began on November 19, continued with a break only for the weekend, when consumption in Europe is traditionally the lowest in a week," the company's Telegram channel noted.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, the maximum daily gas withdrawals in the entire history of observations were recorded on November 24, 25 and 26. Stocks in German warehouses decreased from 72% to 68.5% in five days.

The total volume of active gas in European UGS amounted to 78.1 billion cubic meters, which is 10.6 billion cubic meters lower than last year's level. Gazprom warned that the reduction of reserves reduces the productivity of storage facilities and creates additional risks for energy supply.

Earlier, on September 2, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, said that European countries do not understand the scale of the problem with pumping gas into UGS facilities for the heating season. According to him, the current dynamics of pumping indicates that it will be difficult for some European countries to achieve the target of 90% of UGS occupancy.
