WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia) continues to violate Russian law. The messenger is used to organize and carry out terrorist actions on the territory of the Russian Federation, to recruit their perpetrators, for fraudulent and other crimes against our citizens. This was announced by Roskomnadzor on November 28.

"The messenger is used to organize and carry out terrorist actions on the territory of the country, to recruit their perpetrators, for fraudulent and other crimes against our citizens," Roskomnadzor said.

The ministry noted that WhatsApp does not comply with the requirements aimed at preventing crimes. The gradual degradation of the quality of calls in the messenger was started back in August. Roskomnadzor recommended that users switch to national services, emphasizing that restrictions will continue until all requirements of Russian legislation are met.

On July 18, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that WhatsApp must comply with Russian laws.

However, on July 10, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow fined the WhatsApp messenger 3.5 million rubles on June 10. The fine was imposed under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Failure to delete prohibited information").
