- The former goalkeeper of Zenit and the Russian national team Kritsyuk ended his career at the age of 34.
Former goalkeeper of Krasnodar, Zenit, Braga and the Russian national team Stanislav Kritsyuk has finished his sports career.
In an interview with reporters, the goalkeeper admitted that he had made this decision back in January. The last team he played for was Tyumen. Since January 1, 2025, 34-year-old Kritsyuk has not played for other clubs.
"I finished my career back in the winter. <...> I would not like to rest. I would like to work. In what status — we'll see. But I definitely want to stay in sports," he said in an interview with the RB Sport portal.
He added that he had already received some job offers, but he had not yet made any specific decisions. As Sport-Express reminds, the goalkeeper played most of his career in Portugal, defending the gates of the teams Braga, Belenenses, Gil Vicente and Rio Ave. In Russia, he played for Krasnodar and Zenit. The goalkeeper played two matches for the Russian national team: against Qatar and Lithuania in 2016.
A day earlier, the Russian Aquatics Federation announced the retirement of three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Kolesnichenko. The athlete admitted that she realized that she was nearing the end of her career back at the BRICS Games in 2024. However, before making a final decision, she took a break to rest, take care of her health and consider her initiative.
