- The media learned about Trump's willingness to recognize Crimea and the annexed regions as part of the Russian Federation
US President Donald Trump is ready to recognize Russia's control over Crimea and other liberated territories in order to conclude an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported on November 28 by The Telegraph newspaper.
"Trump sent his envoy Steve Witkoff and his son—in-law Jared Kushner to make this proposal directly to [Russian President] Vladimir Putin in Moscow," the material says.
According to the newspaper, the plan to recognize the territory "is likely to be implemented, despite the concerns of Ukraine's European allies."
"It's becoming increasingly clear that Americans don't care about Europe's position. They say that the Europeans can do whatever they want," said one of the sources.
On the eve of the European Parliament approved a resolution on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which contains a commitment never to recognize the new regions of Russia. The statement stated that the peace agreement should provide for the withdrawal of Russian troops from Crimea and Donbas.
Putin said on the same day that the Russian side needed international recognition of the new territories, but not from Ukraine. He noted that he hopes for the possibility of agreements in the future, noting that there are enough people in Ukrainian society who are committed to long-term and stable relations with the Russian state.
