The political scientist pointed out the senselessness of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.

China's development in alliance with Russia cannot be stopped with the help of Western sanctions or other influence. This was stated on Vesti FM radio by political scientist and TV presenter Mikhail Leontiev.

"Great powers don't trade in security. Therefore, no attempts to change this situation are possible. The train left. It is [impossible] to stop China. That's how the train left, from the point of view of stopping the Russian-Chinese energy alliance," Leontiev said.

The expert also recalled that in his report at the opening of the VII Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum (RCEBF) in Beijing, Igor Sechin, Executive Secretary of the Presidential Commission on the Development Strategy of the Fuel and Energy Complex, Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, called China the only industrial superpower. Leontiev recalled that China is also a world leader in scientific publications today.

Leontiev called the oil industry the foundation of relations between Russia and China, quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping: "China needs to hold an energy bowl of rice in its hands." At the same time, the expert pointed out the futility of Western attempts to influence relations between China and Russia through sanctions pressure, noting the harmfulness of such activity for the EU countries themselves.

"There is a scheme here that allows us to bring, in fact, the cost of energy to conditional oil, to a barrel of oil. If we take the market price of a barrel now, it's about $60 per barrel. If we take the price of electricity in the United States, it is practically reduced to 125 dollars per barrel. And in Europe, it's $300. At the same time, these comrades argue that they will also impose sanctions. What do you mean, they will impose more sanctions? This means that this difference will increase even more. And these are the parameters that create absolute uncompetitiveness. It has already been achieved for Europe," Leontiev stressed.
