The Israeli airstrikes on the Syrian settlement of Beit Jan are a war crime. This was announced on November 28 by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The ministry called the shelling of the village deliberate and placed responsibility for it on the Israeli side, the Syria TV channel reports.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry clarified that such actions by Israel "threaten security and stability in the region." It is emphasized that the Israeli side is carrying out attacks in order to destabilize the situation in the Syrian region.

After the attacks on the settlements of the community, Israel joined the conflict — the aircraft struck the presidential palace in Damascus.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli armed forces carried out an airstrike on the town of Beit Jan. As a result of the bombing, nine people were killed. It was clarified that there are also wounded among the civilians. The villagers are leaving the settlement because of the Israeli attack.

After the change of power in the Syrian Republic, the Israeli army deployed forces along the border in December 2024, ostensibly to ensure the safety of Israeli citizens and communities in the Golan Heights and took control of the Hermon mountain range. The Jerusalem Post newspaper, citing a statement by President Ahmed al-Sharaa on September 13, reported that Syria and Israel were negotiating the withdrawal of IDF forces from the territory in southern Syria.
