The West is using the corruption scandal in Ukraine to find a way out of the lost conflict. This was reported to Izvestia on November 28 by political analyst Mark Lowe.

"It's just part of what they know: the <conflict> is lost. <... > So now they need an exit plan. The exit plan is now to blame the Kiev regime, [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, [the head of the office of the Ukrainian president Andrei] Ermak, all of them. They knew that they had been corrupt for years. Let's be honest.: this is a corrupt country, and it has been for a long time," the political scientist believes.

According to him, the Ukrainian side will inevitably face consequences, including the loss of Western patrons, which are also the United States, since Europe supports the Kiev regime only to sell its weapons. Lowe added that countries are preparing Zelensky and his regime for the fall, because he no longer brings any benefit to the West.

The political scientist also called Ukraine the most corrupt country in all of Europe. At the same time, the Ukrainian side was also chosen by the West as an "ideal place" to try to attack Russia.

"All this was created to alienate the Russian people. Ukraine is just a tool. That's all. Zelensky is a tool of the West. Ermak is an instrument of the West," Lowe emphasized.

He noted that the essence of Ukraine is not to win the conflict, but to sow discord within the Russian state and make Russians believe in Western democracy.

"This scandal is just another example of the fall of the Ukrainian regime. <… >This is all a micro—part of the overall picture. The conflict was created in order to weaken Russia so that Western corporations could enter and take assets inside Russia. That's all. It's very simple if you look at the macro level," the political scientist concluded.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that the searches at Ermak's house meant that the corruption scandal in Ukraine would have extremely negative consequences.

On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) revealed a money laundering scheme in the energy sector of the state, through which about $100 million passed. In the course of the corruption case, seven people were charged, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme). At the same time, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that corruption schemes on the territory of the state were led personally by Zelensky and Ermak.

On November 28, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that anti-corruption officials had searched Ermak's apartment as part of a criminal case against businessman Timur Mindich. NABU confirmed the searches.
