For example, in the Murmansk Region, due to gusty winds, snowstorms and limited visibility, traffic has been stopped on three regional highways since yesterday. The restriction has now been lifted.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of towns and cities, especially in the morning and evening. Drivers should take special care when approaching intersections and unregulated pedestrian crossings. You should not rush to "skip" them as quickly as possible, but, on the contrary, slow down to the minimum speed in advance in order to stop the vehicle for pedestrians to pass.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. In case of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to worsening weather, the relevant information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service units on social networks.
"We would like to draw drivers' attention to the fact that on the eve of winter, you should be extremely careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and lane changes on roads slippery from autumn rains, sleet or ice, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, do not exceed the set speed. Put "winter" tires on the wheels. Also, do not forget that in conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, be sure to use fog lights, if available, and during precipitation, reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on. If the weather worsens, refrain from using personal vehicles, and in urban conditions, transfer to public transport," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In the south-east of Moscow on November 27, the driver of a Gazelle, moving in reverse, hit a pedestrian, after which he fled the scene of the accident. The male pedestrian died on the spot from his injuries. The truck driver is wanted.
