A resident of Tula was sentenced to 16 years for treason and sabotage.
In the Tula region, a local resident was sentenced to 16 years in prison for treason, sabotage, participation in a terrorist organization and vandalism. This was announced on November 28 on the website of the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the case file, at the end of December 2023, a 30-year-old resident joined a terrorist organization and received assignments from the special services of Ukraine. He set fire to a cellular base station, and also spray-painted various inscriptions on the walls of the buildings.
"He was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("High treason"), paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code ("Sabotage"), Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization"), Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code ("Vandalism")", — the statement says.
The attacker will serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony, and he will be in prison for three years of them, with further restriction of freedom for a year. It is noted that a phone was confiscated from a resident of Tula.
Prior to that, on November 27, a court in Astrakhan arrested a resident of the region, who was accused of attempted sabotage and a terrorist act. He was sent to jail until December 16. The court's materials also state that other unidentified persons are involved in the case.
It is clarified that during the meeting, the defense asked to change the measure of restraint to house arrest and a written undertaking not to leave, paying attention to the young age of the person involved, as well as the presence of registration in the Astrakhan region and satisfactory characteristics at the place of residence. As follows from the documents, the court refused the defense's request.
