Sobyanin approves Moscow's improvement plans for 2026
In 2024, more than 3.7 thousand facilities were improved in the capital, while over 70% of the work was carried out outside the central districts within the framework of the My District program. In 2026, it is planned to cover more than 3.5 thousand territories. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his channel in the IACH.
"Moscow is a world leader in terms of the pace of improvement of the urban environment," stressed the metropolitan mayor.
To date, 64 embankments have been improved in Moscow. Nine facilities were completed in 2024, including the embankments in Gorky Park and the Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve. In 2026, it is planned to strengthen the shores in the Spartak stadium area, begin creating a recreational space in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain, as well as repair Frunzenskaya, Novodevichy, Luzhnetskaya, Rostovskaya and Prechistenskaya embankments — a total of seven facilities.
Since 2011, 1,195 public spaces, parks, and landscaped areas have been renovated in the city. This year, work has been completed in four parks, four public spaces and 83 iconic sites, including Triumfalnaya Square and the Bauman Moscow State Technical University Metallurg Stadium. The plan for 2026 includes the improvement of five parks, six public spaces and 83 key territories, including the section along the Lower Mnevniki in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain and the Krasnogorsk Forest Park, where the flagship Novaya Zvezda ski run will be created.
As part of the yard improvement works, more than 2.4 thousand territories were renovated in 2024. Outdoor sports areas are installed in each courtyard, and playgrounds are designed as multifunctional spaces. It is noted that this year the first "scientific" playgrounds appeared. In 2026, it is planned to put in order more than 2 thousand yards.
